1. महंत ने अँधेर नगरी में रहना उचित क्यों नहीं समझा?
उत्तर – महंत ने अंधेर नगरी में रहना उचित नहीं समझा क्योंकि जहाँ टके सेर भाजी और टके सेर खाजा मिले वहाँ के लोग अपनी माँगे पूरी करने के लिए मेहनत नहीं करेंगे ।इस कारण से इस नगर में रहना उचित नहीं था।
1. Why did the Mahant not consider it appropriate to live in the city of darkness?
Answer: The Mahant did not consider it appropriate to live in the city of darkness because where vegetables and sweets were sold for the same low price of a Taka, people would not work hard to fulfill their demands. For this reason, living in this city was not suitable.
2. महंत ने गोवर्धनदास की जान कैसे बचाई?
उत्तर – महंत ने गोवर्धनदास की जान एक योजना के द्वारा बचाई। उन्होंने कहा कि जो भी इस शुभ घड़ी में मरेगा उसे स्वर्ग की प्राप्ति होगी। महंत और गोवर्धनदास दोनों फाँसी–में चढ़ने के लिए तत्पर थे। दोनों की बातें सुनकार– चौपट राजा ने फाँसी में चढ़ने का फैसला किया और इस प्रकार महंत ने गोवर्धन दास की जान बचाई।
2. How did the Mahant save Govardhandas’s life?
Answer: The Mahant saved Govardhandas’s life by devising a plan. He declared that whoever died at this auspicious moment would attain heaven. Both the Mahant and Govardhandas were eager to be hanged. Hearing their conversation, the foolish king decided to be hanged himself, and this is how the Mahant saved Govardhandas’s life.
