एक घना जंगल था। चारों तरफ़ पेड़ ही पेड़ थे। उनके बीच पगडंडियाँ थीं। बहुत
सारे जानवर और चिड़ियाँ जंगल में रहते थे।
There was a dense jungle. There were trees all around. There were narrow paths between them. Many animals
and birds lived in the jungle.

एक दिन सारे जानवर एक साथ इकट्ठा हुए। “क्या तुमने सुना है?” तोतू तोते ने पूछा।
हिरनी ने कहा, “हाँ।”“क्या? क्या? क्या?” डरपोक ख़रगोश ने पूछा। मिंकू बंदर बोला, “हमारे जंगल में एक स्कूल है।”मोटा हाथी सोचता रह गया, “हम्मममम” लम्बू जिराफ़ ख़ुश हो गया।धीमे घोंघे ने ज़ोर से कहा, “चलो जल्दी, हम सब वहाँ चलते हैं।”
One day, all the animals gathered together. “Have you heard?” asked Totu the parrot. The deer said,
“Yes.””What? What? What?” asked the timid rabbit. Minku the monkey said, “There is a school in our
jungle.”The fat elephant kept thinking, “Hmmmmm.” Lambu the giraffe became happy.Dhime the snail said loudly, “Come quickly, let’s all go there.”

तोता सबसे आगे उड़ा।
मिंकू एक पेड़ से दूसरे पेड़ पर कूदते हुए गया। पुराखा अजगर तेज़ी से रेंगने लगा। “देखो,” तोतू
चिल्लाया।“क्या तुम इसे पढ़ सकते हो?” उल्टा झूलते हुए मिंकू ने कहा, “लगता है सब कुछ उल्टा लिखा है।”पुराखा ने लम्बी साँस ली, “हिस.. स.. स यहाँ किसी को पढ़ना नहीं आता।”
Totu the parrot flew at the front.
Minku went jumping from one tree to another. Purakha the python started crawling fast. “Look,” shouted Totu.
“Can you read this?”Hanging upside down, Minku said, “It seems everything is written upside down.”Purakha took a deep breath, “Hiss… s… s no one here knows how to read.”

जल्दी ही सब दोस्त वहाँ इकट्ठा हो गए। लम्बू ने पेड़ के ऊपर देखा। “यहाँ कोई नहीं है।”

मिंकू बोला, “यहाँ कोई नहीं है।” तोतू ने कहा, “ध्यान से देखो। खोजो, खोजो।”

छोटा भालू ने ऐलान किया, “एक छोटा-सा कमरा मिला है।”

Soon all the friends gathered there. Lambu looked up at the tree. “No one is here.”

Minku said, “No one is here.” Totu said, “Look carefully. Search, search.”

The little bear announced, “Found a small room.”

धीमे ने कहा, “मुझे एक झूला मिला है।” डरपोक ख़रगोश ने पूछा, “यह ब्लॉक किस काम के हैं?”

मिंकू बंदर ने पूछा, “यह क्या है?” पुराखा ने समझाया, “शायद यह पेन्सिल है।”

Dhime said, “I have found a swing.” The timid rabbit asked, “What are these blocks for?”

Minku the monkey asked, “What is this?” Purakha explained, “Maybe it is a pencil.”

मोटे और लम्बू को एक कमरा दिखा। उन्होंने सबको बुलाया,
“देखो, यहाँ क्या है?” सभी स्कूल बैग लेकर आए थे। वे सब चिल्लाने लगे, “टीचर, टीचर !
हमारी टीचर किधर है?”
किसी को भी पता नहीं था।
Mote (the fat one) and Lambu saw a room. They called everyone,
“Look, what is here?” Everyone had brought school bags. They all started shouting, “Teacher, Teacher!
Where is our teacher?”
No one knew.

तभी उन्हें एक दहाड़ सुनाई दी। फिर एक और ऊँची गरज ।
उसके बाद एक और ज़ोरदार गरज ।पुराखा और मिंकू परेशान हो गए। धीमे डर गया।
तोतू बोर्ड के पीछे छिप गया।”यह कौन है?” मिंकू बोला, “हप,” चारों ओर सन्नाटा !
Suddenly they heard a roar. Then another loud roar.
After that, one more powerful roar.Purakha and Minku got worried. Dhime got scared.
Totu hid behind the board.”Who is this?” Minku said, “Hup,” There was silence all around!

सब टीचर की ओर देख रहे थे। ऊपर-नीचे, बड़े ही ध्यान
से। फिर उन्होंने एक-दूसरे की ओर देखा।टीचर ब्लैक बोर्ड की तरफ़ मुड़े।
“कूदो,” मिंकू बोला।
“उड़ जाओ,” तोतू बोला।धम धम धम, भागा मोटा।
धीमे चीखा, “भागो, ओर तेज़ भागो।”“भागो,” सभी जानवर चिल्लाए। जब टीचर पीछे मुड़ा तो कक्षा में कोई भी नहीं
था।
Everyone was looking at the teacher. Up and down, very carefully.
Then they looked at each other.The teacher turned towards the black board.
“Jump,” said Minku.
“Fly away,” said Totu.Thud thud thud, ran Mote.
Dhime screamed, “Run, run faster.””Run,” shouted all the animals. When the teacher turned around, there was no one in the class.
